2 pounds cod fillets, skinless if possible

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 cups shredded purple cabbage

2 cups shredded green cabbage

1/2 cup chopped scallions

3 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt

Juice of 1 lime

1 teaspoon honey or sugar

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1 medium red onion, thinly sliced

1/2 cup white vinegar

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup warm water

1/3 cup mayonnaise

1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt

3 tablespoons chili garlic sauce

2 tablespoons honey or sugar

2 teaspoons white vinegar

3 tablespoons water

Flour or corn tortillas

Lime wedges

12 avocados, sliced

Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

1. Add the sliced red onions to a bowl or jar. Pour in the vinegar, sugar, salt, and warm water. Stir well and let sit for at least 20 minutes.

2. Preheat the broiler to high and place the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat.

3. Arrange the cod fillets on a foil-lined baking sheet and brush with oil.

4. Mix together the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Sprinkle evenly over the fish.

5. Broil for 5–7 minutes until the fish flakes easily with a fork. Break into chunks.

6. In a large bowl, combine both cabbages and scallions.

7. Stir in the Greek yogurt, lime juice, honey or sugar, salt, and pepper until well coated.

8. Whisk together the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, chili garlic sauce, honey or sugar, vinegar, and water until smooth and creamy.

9. Warm the tortillas.

10. Fill each tortilla with fish, lime slaw, avocado slices, and pickled red onions.

11. Drizzle generously with Bang Bang sauce and garnish with fresh cilantro.

12. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

Use fresh cod for the best flaky texture.

Adjust chili garlic sauce to control spice level.
