- 1 pound soft pretzel dough or pizza dough
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- Pretzel salt, for sprinkling
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, melted
- 8 ounces crumbled blue cheese
- Fresh thyme or parsley, for serving
Instructions
- Cut the dough into 34 bite-size pieces, cover, and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
- Add the baking soda to the boiling water. Boil the dough bites, 10 or so at a time, for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place each bite onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Arrange the bites in a greased 12-inch baking dish. Brush the bites with the beaten egg, then evenly pour over the melted butter. Top with crumbled blue cheese.
- Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until pretzels are golden brown and the cheese has melted. Finish with fresh herbs. Serve warm!
